Hi I visited in November 2009 and fell in love with you all. On June 4th 2010 I completed a sky dive from 13000ft for you and managed to raise this money which I would love to donate to you all. A message from Karen Cunningham-Walker:

My children and I visited the ODA in April 2009 at Khmer new year, when we heard about if after making inquiries in Siem Reap about visiting an orphanage. We were fortunate to be introduced to ODA and The Children's house of Peace. I took my 2 daughters, Berenice, aged now 14 and Georgiana, 10(then 13 and 9) to visit Leng on the afternoon before we left for UK. We met the children who were there and asked if we might fund raise in UK and what they needed. Leng suggested a computer so we promised we would raise funds to secure just that.

The children came home and wrote presentation with photos for their schools and each school did their own fund raiding. My eldest organized an amazing talent show with her form for the school and raised we felt a lot of money for the 2 orphanages. They also had an idea at Christmas when we were snowed in and invited the neighbors round for supper and give a presentation - that again raised money a significant sum.

I hope these funds will be put to good use for the children and we will hope to carry on with fund raising ideas in the future at the schools. The details of the school is Sir William Borlases's Grammar school, Marlow and the neighbors are the Friends on Winter Hill!!! We took many photos at the orphanage and if ever you need any just shout!

Also some students from the older years at Berenice's school are planning a
trip to Cambodia next year. I hope maybe to see if any of the students would be able to visit the ODA?

Vision Statement

ODA will continue to develop in it’s current location until it is a viable Orphanage with regular funding in place to support 40-50 children in comfortable & happy surroundings. Allowing them the luxury of a childhood but preparing them mentally and physically for their future outside in the harsh environment that is Cambodia today. Creativity and education are the priorities along with love and encouragement.

Over the next 5 years we will duplicate the current perfected organization on another 3 sites. They will be set up one at a time until they are fully stand alone and viable, at which time the next will begin.

Our aim is to work with local Village Chiefs in all locations & keep children in their own locality to ensure their identity is strengthened whilst their future care and support is addressed.

Aich Channy, age 12, loves reading, Khmer Traditional dancing, painting, and loves cooking as well. Channy wishes to become a Doctor when she grows up and she is very committed. Her sisters are Chanda and Poly.


Meas Sothea (Called Thea), age 7, likes tennis, football, chasing the other kids around. Thea really wants to be an Artists when he grows up.


Daeng Loth, age 10, enjoys Khmer traditional dancing, playing in the sand, football. Loth also wishes to be an Artist and is getting really good at it.


Aich Chanda, age 11, loves reading, painting, playing with all the kids. Chanda wants to be a nurse when she grows up. Her sisters are Channy and Poly.

ODA is more than happy to have volunteers if you have one hour to spare to as long as you wish. All volunteers are much appreciated and the children love having visitors as well. ODA is a grassroots NGO still in its infancy with lots of projects to accomplish and needs all the help we can receive. The following are just some, but not all of the things you can help with:

Chhon Sannchay, age 4, loves pulling the other kids in the toy car (a wooden cart). Sannchay wants to be an Artist and Apsara Dancer when she grows up. She also enjoys dancing and playing football with Bhub.


Leng Vitou, age 3, likes playing with the toy car (a wooden cart), the ball, and painting. His older brother is Reech.


Leng Reech, age 6, is usually quiet, but enjoys playing with his dinosaur, Spiderman, and wrestling. Reech wants to be a doctor when he grows up. His younger brother is Vitou.


Pav, age 5, loves music, dancing, and singing everyday. He is always full of energy that he sings when he wakes up and before he sleeps. When he grows up he wants to be an actor or singer. Pav also likes playing football and has an older sister, Srey Khoutch.

Phol Sophy, age 11, loves painting temples and his favorite medium is oil. Sophy wants to become an Artist when he grows up and dreams of living in a developed country like England. He also likes playing football and swimming.


Sna, age 18, enjoys water coloring, oil painting, and sculpture/carving. He likes everything about the art that he is learning from Leng. When Sna grows up, he wants to be a guide for the Angkor Temples he likes meeting foreigners and teaching them about the history of Angkor. Sna’s favorite temples are Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm. He also likes playing basketball, football, and badminton.


Khvann Bhub, age 4, likes playing with the toy ball, chasing and cuddling with the puppies, his rabbit doll, and hanging out with Sannchay. Pheak is his older brother.


Clee Leak, age 12, loves to read, paint, play with her ODA family. Leak is the top of her class and wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Yeum Phanny (also known as Pheak), age 11, loves painting and wants to be an Artist and also a Doctor when he grows up. Currently Pheak is at the 1st art level, which he enjoys drawing landscapes and animals. He enjoys fixing bicycles and playing football with the boys, Bhub is his younger brother.


Heang Chanly, age 12, likes painting (his favorite) and sculpture/carving, but wants to study computers. Cheng Ly’s favorite temples are Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm. In addition to English, Cheng Ly wants to learn French and Japanese. He also loves playing football, basketball, hip-hop and disco dancing.


Srey Khoutch, age 15, enjoys painting, especially animals, and learning English. Srey Khoutch is very excited to attend school this fall and wants to be a Painter when she grows up. Srey Khoutch also loves living in countryside of Siem Reap because of all the wonderful people, life, and beautiful scenery. For fun, Srey Khoutch likes playing badminton. Her younger brother is Pav.


Saoum Sok Maly, age 16, loves painting everything, especially houses. She wants to be an Artist, Apsara dancer, and study computers. Her favorite medium is watercolor and one day she hopes to teach painting to children like Leng. Leng has already made a mental note of this for the future. Sok Maly’s dream is to visit a developed country one day. She also enjoys playing badminton, dancing, and watching the kids.

The Cambodian name is always spoken and written in the order of last name then first name. There is no comma used to separate the last name from the first


Trai Vet, age 17, enjoys drawing, painting, and sculpture/carving. He dreams of studying to be a Webmaster or Architectural Engineer at a University. Trai Vet also likes playing football, learning English, and reading books.


Trai Van, age 17, enjoys the art he is learning at school, but wants to be a guide to be a Doctor to help the smaller villages and ODA when he grows up. Trai Van also likes learning different languages, especially Japanese, because he feels that Japan helps a lot of developing countries around the world and many Japanese tourists visit Cambodia. Trai Van also likes playing football and basketball.


Lan Chea, age 14, likes painting landscapes and portraits. Lan Chea’s dream is to become an Electrical Engineer and Artist. His favorite temple is Angkor Wat because it is the biggest and most beautiful. Lan Chea also likes playing football, volleyball, reading English books, and learning magic tricks.


So Chat, age 22, has been with Leng since the 2nd promotion. Although he does not live at the orphanage he is there everyday to learn as much about art as he can. So Chat wants to become a painter learning new art techniques from around the world so he can teach them to the children of Cambodia, like Leng. So Chat’s dream is to live in another country, like the United States, but does not feel it will happen. His favorite sport to play is football.

Orphans & Disabled Arts Association has been created to aid underprivileged children who are orphaned, disabled, abandoned, destitute, and from other vulnerable groups. Our mission is to provide these children with food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, art skills, and recreation with lots of love and care. We wish to inspire hope, confidence, and independence so that each child will have a chance to choose their own future and contribute back to the local community.

Orphans & Disabled Arts Association (ODA) is a grassroots NGO that was founded in 2003 by Leng Touch, an accomplished Artist. Orphaned by the Khmer Rouge, Leng was drawn to help as many orphans as he could and provide the children with better lives.

Leng’s hard work and struggle has brought him notoriety in the local community in which people now contact him of new children needing help. The children are often orphans living on the street or from poor families who are unable to feed them.

Now, with the assistance of his wife, Sry Om, and Sophan Sen, ODA currently supports 15 children at their residential orphanage. Although the children can be adopted, Leng and Sry Om have created a home where they are all a family. They all live, eat, struggle, survive, play, and take care of each other as one big family.

In addition to public schooling, the children have English lessons and Leng teaches them his skills in Art. Leng’s training in fine arts include watercoloring, oil painting, carving/sculpture, and shadow puppetry. Unfortunately, due to the lack of stable funding for basic necessities, Leng had to discontinue the latter three projects.
